What if Python could replace the functionality of VBA and more?

Excel is the most ubiquitous software on the planet. Estimates of the userbase reach as high as 1.5 billion, and millions daily-drive the software to make a living. From financial analysts to small business to data-entry, it seems there are millions of users who could leverage the power Python to increase quality, efficiency and robustness.

Compared to Excel, Python trades complexity for flexibility. You can write nearly any appliction, function, or automation in Python. This begs the question:

What if Python developers could seamlessly deploy code for the largest single pool of software users in the world?

Microsoft itself sees the value - having partnered with Anaconda to bake in a cloud version of Python support. This is a somewhat compelling option, but unsurprisingly looks like another 'cloud-native' data farm to sell compute credits to enterprise.

There is a simpler way - build a locally hosted Python calculation server accessible from Excel, support industry-standard IDEs, and let the community handle the rest.
